Rating the programs that train people for factory work.

What it rates.

The rating covers programs that train people to work in factories and fabs. Every program is scored against the same standard. The standard is public, so a program can see where it lost points and challenge its score.

What the top rating means.

A program at the top of the scale turns out people who can walk onto a factory floor and do useful work. We call that rating Floor-Ready.

  We are writing the rest of the scale along with the standard. Neither is final.

What the rating leaves out.

1. Graduate earnings are left out, because earnings data arrives years late and depends as much on local jobs as on the training.
2. There is no ranking. Programs are scored against the standard, so several can earn the top rating at once.
3. A program missing from the list has not been rated. We add programs as we finish scoring them.
4. A score describes a program on the date it was scored. Instructors and equipment change, and an old score can go stale.
